In recent hms30c7202_datasheet_preliminary_A05_8.pdf, from MagnaChip web, there is rather thin description for this pin. It says that "Timer 1 output divided by 2". Is there a way to set or reset the flip-flop to control initial state of the output? A1. Unfortunately, only "reset signal" can reset "timer 1 output".Internal timer1 interrupt toggle the " timer 1 output". So if user want to set/reset this output pin low or high, a GPIO pin could be used to sense this output and could make one more timer 1 interrupt to toggle timer 1 output pin. Q2. How does "Timer Top-level Control Register" (TOPCTRL) bit 6 "Timer Output enable" affect the output pin? A2.It's a sort of MASK bit of "timer 1 output" Q3.In our application I would like to generate long and precise pulses with timer 1 and using interrupts to widen the 32 -bit timer. Is it available? A3.Yes. To generate long and precise pulses, you can use the interrupt and timer output enable bit. When timer interrupt is generated, pre-timer output is toggled. And the timer output is the value of pre-timer output enabled by timer output enable bit. So, in the interrupt service routine, you can control the timer output with timer out enable bit(when disabled, timer output is fixed to 0). For example, 1.the timer is started with timer output enabled(timer out = 0) 2.when the interrupt is generated, timer out will be toggled.(timer out = 1) 3.at the second interrupt, disable the timer output.(timer out = 0) 4.at the third interrupt, the timer out is toggled but timer out is 0 because timer output enable bit is 0 5.at the forth interrupt, enable the timer output. Then at next interrupt timer output will be 1. 6.Repeat 2 to 5. It will generate the 2 times long pulse with the same base value of counter. Q4. We want to use a 4 x 4 keyboard matrix and use the other pins as MultiFunction pins (UART). Is it possible ?I've checked the datasheet and it seems we must use 8x8, or we cannot use the keyboard pins at all. Is this correct ? A4. There is a restriction of matrix keyboard function. KSCANI[7:0] are inputs from external matrix keyboard, and can be configured for multifunction pins, keyboard or GPIOs at any case. KSCANO[7:0] are outputs to external matrix keyboard, and should be used for keyboard only when any pin of PORTA[7:0] is configured for Keyboard function. So, PORTA[14:13] can be used for UART3 function by enabling MultiFunctionEnable bits when KSCANI[7,4:0] are used for keyboard. But PORTA[6:5] can't be used for UART2 function if user wants to used keyboard function, 'cause KSCANO[7:0] should be configured for keyboard function. All KSCANOs & KSCANIs for keyboard need to be connected to pull-up resistor If keyboard function is enabled. Q5.Can I use (a part of) the built-in keyboard controller even if PORTA is used in MultiFunction Enable Mode ? A5. Yes. To use matrix keyboard in multifunction mode, both hardware and software should be configured carefully. By turning on a certain bit of GPIOAMuxEnable the corresponding bit operates in multifunction enabled mode instead of in default mode - matrix keyscan mode. In this case matrix keyboard can neither send full 8 bit output nor receive full 8bit input. For example, if UART2 and UART3 are enabled, PORTA[6:5] and PORTA[14:13] will operates in multifunction mode and KSCANO[7,4:0] and KSCANI[7,4:0] will operates in default mode by setting the bits in GPIOAMuxEnable[5,6,13,14]. We assume to use 5 by 5 matrix. The matrix keyboard controller scans 8 rows circularly and receives 8 bit data at each scan. In 5 by 5 configuration, it scans 8 rows circularly but gets 5 row data only because KSCAN[7:5] are disabled.Also it receives 8 bits data but only 5 bits are valid because KSCANI[7:5] are disabled. See attachment to understand me.So, software must consider the situation when a part of scanning data are invalid. Software will get following 8 Bytes at one scan circulation. Byte 0 : ***vvvvv Byte 1 : ***vvvvv Byte 2 : ***vvvvv Byte 3 : ***vvvvv Byte 4 : ***vvvvv Byte 5 : ******** Byte 6 : ******** Byte 7 : ******** legend: * for invalid input data, v for valid input data Software should ignore the result Byte5~Byte7 and also should ignore the msb 3 bits in Byte0~Byte4. Q6. In our application we want to use a small keypad with 5x4 keys but also using all the UARTS. The problem is that when the keyboard scan is enabled and not in power down USOUT2 is changed to KSCANO6 and is statically 0. Register KBSC do not affect the situation and even if KBSC has value 0xFF keyboard is working properly. Any suggestions! A6. In 7202, if keyboard function was enabled, KSCANO pins would work like open drain PADs. This changing only set by keyboard enable or not. So, even though user set GPIO registers properly to use other functions, all KSCANO pins still need external pull-up resister to use along with keyboard functions. (even if some of them used for other functions not keyboard).
