Description
Monitor MCUs are designed to controll a CRT monitor. To do this, it has some special features such as,

VESA DDC: The Display Data Channel or DDC is a digital connection between a computer display and a graphics adapter that allows the display to communicate its specifications to the adapter. The standard was created by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA).( from Wikipedia )
DDC is based on the I2C bus. Master is a cumputer display and slave is a graphics adapter. A computer display( such as CRT monitor ) has to reply it's infomation modes that the monitor can display through DDC when a request is coming from a graphics adapter. ABOV's Monitor MCUs have a DDC block to do this.

On-chip sync processor : This processor is used to find and generate sync-signal which is used to transmit display data in sync.
